Historical Pausanias Vinetree
The vine of Pausanias in Kalavryta, are huge vine trunks. Those trunks, are spread over trees (oaks) in the churchyard of St. Nicholas, in the village of Kalavryta Municipality “Pagrati”, which is located between the borders of Achaia and Arcadia.
The vine of Pausanias is an important monument of nature in the area. It was named by the historian Pausanias when he visited the area. In his work “Arcadian” Pausanias is referring to the vine as a curious phenomenon.
The vine of Pausanias age is estimated at about 3000 years and its length reaches 100 meters.
